the university's partnerships extend our reach into local, national and international communities, creating relationships that have spurred innovation, technology commercialization and economic growth for decades. as an anchor institution, we are deeply engaged in the city of dayton and make investments that benefit the entire community.
on land owned by the university, two fortune 500 companies – ge aviation and emerson – established major research and development centers. these partnerships have led to new ideas, new patents and even new jobs. construction is currently underway on a new building, which bring together three community-building organizations to work on issues such as workforce development, pre k-16 educational access and success, socioeconomic determinants of health and reducing structural inequity.
partnerships extend off-campus, as well. the university has partnered with premier health to develop onmain, a 38-acre district that aims to foster imagination and innovation. through a partnership with east end community services and mission of mary cooperative, the university established lincoln hill gardens, an urban garden and experiential learning site. and a joint venture with the entrepreneurs center has led to the creation of the arcade innovation hub llc, which will fuel economic growth and spark creativity by enabling students, faculty and staff from all disciplines to work alongside local entrepreneurs.
