#1day1dayton: university of dayton to launch first giving day april 10

the university of dayton will sponsor its first giving day campaign wednesday, april 10, to rally the flyer community and celebrate the impact collective financial support can make for the university and its students.

#1day1dayton is the theme for the university’s inaugural giving day, and all friends of ud are encouraged to participate in this 24-hour fundraising effort. the university’s goal is to generate at least 1,850 gifts — representing the year the marianists founded ud.

financial gifts of any size are welcome and all help make an impact. contributions will help the university provide scholarships to attract and retain talented students, support cutting-edge research and ensure every student experiences all the school has to offer.

“#1day1dayton is an opportunity for everyone in our ud community to make a difference,” said university of dayton president eric f. spina. “this is our effort to ensure a university of dayton education remains accessible and affordable to all deserving students.”

olivia jez-belden will serve as a student ambassador for #1day1dayton because she's experienced donor support firsthand. a junior marketing major, jez-belden traveled to india last summer on a cross-cultural immersion trip thanks to a donor-supported scholarship.

“studying abroad was always on my radar, but i never thought it would be possible for me financially,” jez-belden said. “it was an amazing experience and nothing could ever replace that. the university of dayton is a university like no other and i believe everyone should have the opportunity to be a part of this community. i cannot imagine myself at any other university and i am beyond grateful to donors that have made this possible for me.”
